Leeks Scores 27, Yotes Clinch Share of CCC Title

PORTLAND, Ore. – Aziz Leeks scored a career-high 27 points and Roosevelt Adams was perfect from the floor, helping the College of Idaho clinch a share of the Cascade Conference regular-season title with a wire-to-wire 99-61 victory over Multnomah University at Lytle Gymnasium.

The win was the 12th in a row for the No. 4-ranked Coyotes (22-5, 16-1 CCC) and their sixth-straight conference road win.

C of I tied a season high with 16 made 3-pointers, with their 67-percent shooting percentage from long range the seventh-best performance in school history. The Yotes made 39-of-65 field goals overall, their best shooting effort since the 2013-14 season.

Nate Bruneel got the Yotes off to a quick start, making four consecutive 3-pointers in a 24-10 run to open the game. Adams got into the act, draining three 3's and a driving lay-up to extend the lead to 40-23, with Leeks scoring the next seven points – including a dunk and a 3-pointer – pushing the margin to 54-31 at the half.

An 11-0 run in the second half put the game away – as triples from Leeks, Bruneel and Adams capped the rally as the lead grew to 79-43 with 11 minutes to play.

Adams had 18 points on 7-of-7 shooting, including four triples – becoming the tenth C of I player to make at least seven field goals without a miss. Bruneel scored 17 points; Keun Palu-Thompson and Gibson Berryhill scored 10; Talon Pinckney had nine assists; and Dominic Hulsey tied a career-high with eight points.

Ben Grandle led the Lions (6-20, 3-14) with 14 points – as MU finished 11-of-38 from 3-point range.  The hosts were manhandled on the glass, as C of I held a 47-19 rebound edge.

The Yotes close out their road schedule tomorrow night with a 7:30 p.m. match-up at No. 13-ranked Warner Pacific/
