LA GRANDE, Ore. – The College of Idaho was picked to finish in a tie for fifth in the 2019 Cascade Conference Softball Preseason Coaches' Poll, released by the league office.
The Lady Yotes, coming off a 22-23 season, narrowly missed the CCC Championships in 2018 – but return seven regulars from a line-up that hit .317 on the season and averaged over five runs per game, along with All-CCC pitcher,
Colette Robert.
C of I received 45 voter points from the 10 league coaches – tied with Carroll College for the No. 5 spot. Defending conference champion and national semifinalist, Southern Oregon (80 points), was the odds-on favorite to win the title, followed by Oregon Tech (70), Corban (69) and Eastern Oregon (49) – all teams that qualified for the NAIA Championships.
The Yotes open their season the final week of January with six games in Arizona, with the home opener set for Feb. 22 as Willamette and Menlo head to the Treasure Valley for a three-team weekend tournament. C of I opens league play on March 1 at the University of Providence.
