Lady Yotes Complete Road Sweep, Top NCU 61-44

EUGENE, Ore. – Emily Harwood and Jocelyn Cook-Cox combined for 23 second half points, helping the College of Idaho to their third-straight victory, a 61-44 win over Northwest Christian inside Morse Event Center.

The Lady Yotes (4-6, 2-2 CCC) ran their Cascade Conference road win streak to five – forcing 23 turnovers on the afternoon – in improving to 119-3 all-time when holding an opponent under 50 points.

Following an offensively challenged first half that saw both teams shoot below 25-percent, C of I opened the third quarter pair of free throws from both Madison Holly and Cook-Cox, with Cook-Cox adding a 3-point play – giving the visitors a 29-18 lead.

After the Beacons (5-9, 2-3) pulled within 39-32 on a Dani Baker jumper with two minutes left in the quarter, C of I scored the next 10 points – as jumpers from Madison Holly bookended buckets from Mackenzie Royce, Mackenzie Collins and Harwood – taking a 49-32 lead with seven minutes left in the contest.

C of I sealed the win at the free throw line – making 11-of-11 in the final two quarters and drained 14-of-15 free throws on the night. The Yotes scored 18 points off NCU turnovers and held a 49-44 edge on the glass.

Harwood led the Yotes with 16 points and seven rebounds, with Cook-Cox scoring 12. Alyssa Case had nine points and 11 rebounds, Holly had eight points and five steals, with both Royce and Kiersten Rasmussen scoring six.

Morgan McKinney had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Beacons, as NCU was limited to just 27-percent shooting on the night in having their three-game home regular-season win streak against C of I snapped.

The Lady Yotes return to action on Tuesday, hosting nationally-ranked Eastern Oregon at 5:30 p.m. All students 18-and-under will be admitted for free and fans are asked to wear their best Christmas Sweaters to the game.
