Lady Yotes Drop Home Opener to Oregon Tech, 63-53

CALDWELL, Idaho – Madison Holly scored 14 points and Alyssa Case recorded her third double-double in four games, but the College of Idaho could not overcome 12 second chance points by Oregon Tech, as the Owls controlled the second half of a 63-53 win over the Yotes inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

Courtney Clemmer led three Owls (6-4, 1-0 CCC) in double-figures with 14 points and seven rebounds – including three put-back buckets – as OIT ended a three-year skid at C of I.

Emily Harwood converted a post move for a basket and Case canned a 3-pointer early in the contest, as the Yotes (1-5, 0-1) took their lone lead of the night at 9-7. Tech answered, scoring 10 of the next 12 points – with a Megan Morris floater giving Tech a 17-11 lead.

The Yotes would be within three late in the first half, before Nohea Waiwaiole scored on a lay-up and Amanda Constant buried a triple, giving OIT a 32-24 lead at the break.

Tech controlled the second half – building a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter on an Abby Kreiser triple and withstanding a pair of late C of I runs that cut the margin to nine.

Holly made 5-of-11 field goals to lead the Yotes, with Case scoring 13 points, tying a career-high with 13 rebounds, adding three assists and four steals. Harwood had seven points and Mackenzie Royce scored seven points with five assists.

Waiwaiole had 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds for OIT, with Kreiser tallied 11.  The Owls limited C of I to just 34-percent shooting on the night.

C of I returns to action tomorrow night, hosting Southern Oregon at 5:30 p.m.
