Austin Basterrechea were honored today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as 2018 regional award winners.
Cervantes was named NAIA West Region Athlete of the Year - the top runner among athletes in the Cascade, California Pacific and the Golden State Athletic Conferences. The junior was previously named Cascade Conference Athlete of the Year after claiming the title of the CCC Championships on Nov. 3.
Basterrechea was named NAIA West Region Coach of the Year after leading the Yotes to their first-ever CCC men's cross country title. His Coyotes head into NAIA National Championships as the No. 3 ranked team in the nation.
The Yotes will leave Boise tomorrow for Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with competition beginning Friday.
