LA GRANDE, Ore. - Four College of Idaho student-athletes were honored with Red Lion-Cascade Conference Weekly Awards, announced by the league information office.
Two Coyote volleyball players and two cross country runners were among the weekly recipients.
Opposite hitter
Taylor Alexander was named CCC Volleyball Hitter of the Week after leading the Lady Yotes to road wins at Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech. The senior had 18 kills and four blocks in the big win over No. 10-ranked SOU, adding 17 kills at OIT.
Middle blocker
Jackie van Vliet was named CCC Volleyball Defender of the Week - earning the award after recording 14 total blocks in the two wins. The senior surpassed the 500-block mark for her career, becoming the third C of I player and sixth CCC player to surpass the milestone.
Cross country runners
Alex Martin and
Kaitlyn Schut earned CCC Runner of the Week awards after solid efforts at the Steve Reeder Memorial in Logan, Utah. Martin placed eighth overall and was the first non-BYU or unattached runner to cross the finish line in the race, while Schut led a solid C of I pack with a 21st-place finish against top runners from BYU, Utah and Utah State.
