KLAMATH FALLS, Idaho – College of Idaho scored the final five points of the fifth set to secure their 22nd-straight victory over Oregon Tech, completing a weekend road sweep with a victory at Danny Miles Court.
The No. 16 ranked Lady Yotes (14-6, 9-3 CCC) outlasted OIT 25-21, 18-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-11 to remain just one game out of first place in the conference race.
After OIT (9-11, 4-9) got five Chase Bohman kills in the fourth set to force the winner-take-all run to 15, the teams played to 10 ties – with the Owls pulling ahead 11-10 on a Faith Wylie-Houck kills. C of I answered, getting consecutive
Taylor Alexander kills followed by a combo-block from Alexander and
Jackie van Vliet to force a Tech timeout. A van Vliet kill set up match point, with a
Drew Dobney ace closing out the match.
Alexander led the Yotes with 17 kills and four blocks, with van Vliet adding 13 kills and seven blocks – becoming the third C of I player in program history with over 500 blocks (504).
C of I used an 8-1 push in Set 1 to erase a 20-17 OIT lead, but the Owls squared the match with a dominant Set 2, hitting .359 in the frame.
Ashley Pagan had four kills in Set 3, including a key spike to break a 23-23 tie to give the Coyotes the win.
Bohman led all players with 26 kills and 13 digs, with Camryn Johnson recording 15 kills in the losing effort.
Pagan had 10 kills and 21 digs for the Yotes, with
Mackenzie Keating adding eight kills and eight digs.
Marija Djonovic just missed a 20-20 match, finishing with 34 assists and 19 digs, while Dobney led C of I with 23 digs.
The Yotes return home next weekend for matches against Multnomah and Warner Pacific.
