CALDWELL, Idaho – Late heroics by
Adam Prskavec wasn't enough for the College of Idaho, as Carroll College scored a goal two minutes into overtime to earn a 2-1 victory at Simplot Stadium.
The Yotes (2-5-2-, 1-5-1 CCC) forced the extra period with a goal by Prskavec in the 89th minute, only to see Carroll win it minutes later on a Jose Porras strike.
After a scoreless first 45 minutes that saw C of I control much of the possession, the Saints (5-5, 4-4) broke through midway through the second half. Porras played a long low thru-ball into space, with Nick Lowrimore making the nice run – finishing with a strike to the lower right corner of the net for the 1-0 lead.
CC nearly tacked on a second goal in the waning moments – but a Terry Cox 20-yard drive banged off the right post.
C of I got the equalizer with just 91 seconds left in regulation – as
Lucas Thorne played a long ball down the left side, with Prskavec driving a low shot under charging Saints keeper Kaden Connor.
In overtime, the Saints collected a loose ball in the far left corner of the box, with Lowrimore looping a pass to an unmarked Porras at the top of the 18, unleashing a left-footed shot into the back of the net for the winner.
The Saints held a 15-11 edge in total shots, with the Yotes having an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.
C of I returns to action next Friday, hosting Northwest Christian at 3 p.m.
