PORTLAND, Ore. – Second half goals by
Laura Staropoli and
Emily Aspden broke a scoreless tie, as the College of Idaho ran their unbeaten streak to five, blanking upset-minded Multnomah University, 2-0, at Eastside Timbers Soccer Complex.
Despite a lopsided edge in total shots and shots on frame, the Lady Yotes (8-3-2, 5-3-1 CCC) could not find the net until the 60th minute, when Staropoli blasted a 30-yard free kick into the top left corner of the net – breaking the scoreless tie.
C of I added to the margin in the 75th minute, as a shot by
Victoria Cerda was redirected to the foot of Aspden, who slotted home the goal.
The Lions (0-11, 0-10) played tough throughout – with keeper Lexis Law recording eight saves – but could not overcome a 21-5 deficit in shots by C of I. Coyote keeper Shaw Waters made three saves in earning her second shutout of the season.
