CALDWELL, Idaho – A three goal flurry over a nine minute period helped the College of Idaho open Cascade Conference play with a convincing 3-0 victory over Oregon Tech at Simplot Stadium.
The Lady Yotes (3-3, 1-0 CCC) extended their win streak to three matches, as
Brittany Houghton made eight saves in logging her second-straight shutout.
C of I opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, as
Jocelyn Cook-Cox collected the ball outside the box on the left side, driving a bending 30-yard shot into the top right corner of the goal.
The Yotes kept the pressure on, earning a corner kick in the 39th minute, with reserve
Emma Powley playing the ball to the corner of the 6-yard-box at the near-post, with
Emily Aspden flicking home her first goal of the season.
Just two minutes later, OIT (2-4, 0-1) failed to clear a ball from the defensive third, with
Cameron Coyle securing the ball in the middle of the field and ripped a 30-yard blast into the right corner of the goal for the 3-0 lead.
Tech tried to rally in the second half with the gusty wind at their back, holding a 7-2 edge in shots – but could not find the net against the Coyote defense.
Each team had 10 shots, with OIT recording an 8-5 edge in shots on frame.
C of I returns to action on Sunday, hosting Southern Oregon at Noon.
