MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Two first half goals in the span of 115 seconds lifted the College of Idaho to a 2-0 women's soccer road win at Division III Linfield College.
The Lady Yotes (2-3) will take a two-match win streak into their Cascade Conference opener on Friday against Oregon Tech.
C of I opened the scoring in the 31st minute, as
Mackenzie Malach played a perfect thru-ball to the charging
Katelyn Benavidez, who slotted home a shot past Wildcats (2-2) keeper Sarah Bailey.
Less than two minutes later, Benavidez drove a corner kick to the back post, finding the foot of
Bailey Watson for a key insurance goal.
Keeper
Brittany Houghton and the defense did the rest – limiting Linfield to just three shots on goal for the afternoon.
The Yotes held a 13-12 edge in total shots, while C of I turned away 11 corner kick opportunities for the Cats.
