INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. – Making the most of limited opportunities on the afternoon, the College of Idaho scored goals on five of their eight shot attempts, closing the non-conference schedule with a 5-3 win at Sierra Nevada College.
The Coyotes (3-1) scored four goals in the opening 25 minutes of the match and went into cruise control heading into the start of Cascade Conference play on Friday. Both
Carter Perry and
Bekir Cinac scored two goals to lead the C of I offense.
Perry opened the scoring early in the ninth minute, driving home a strike off an
Ahmet Huremovic cross. Huremovic made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute, running onto a long thru-ball from sweeper
Darion Green.
Cinac scored consecutive goals in the 24th and 26th minutes, making a great run for the first marker and knocking home a feed from Carter to extend the margin to 4-0.
The Eagles (0-4) got a goal from Izak Cortez in the 33rd minute and got a tally from Alonzo Garcia-Ordonez in the 59th minute to cut the margin to 4-2 – and nearly had a third, but C of I keeper
Grant Billings made a great save on a penalty kick chance.
Perry capped the scoring for the Yotes in the 62nd minute, tapping home a cross from
Brenden Kenley.
SNC held a 14-8 edge in total shots and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks – with Billings making five saves in the victory.
The Yotes open conference play on Friday afternoon, hosting Oregon Tech at 4:30 p.m.
