Huge 2nd Half Run Lifts Yotes Past Multnomah, 86-65

PORTLAND, Ore. – A game-changing 30-4 second half run erased a 41-40 deficit, as the College of Idaho completed a weekend sweep in the Rose City, toppling Multnomah University, 86-65, at Jim Skagen Court.

The Yotes (18-8, 11-5 CCC) won for the fourth-straight time and ended the conference season 5-5 on the road – ending MU's string of seven straight games with 85 points scored or more.

C of I got triples from Gibson Berryhill and Talon Pinckney in a 13-1 first half run that gave the Yotes a 40-30 lead with three minutes left in the period.  The Lions (6-20, 2-14) pushed back, scoring the final seven points of the period, adding two Ben Grandle free throws and a Darius Redrick floater in the first two minutes of the second half to take a 41-40 lead.

From there, the Yotes defense buckled down – limiting MU to just one made field goal in the next 10 minutes. Joey Nebeker had a 3-point play and a driving lay-up; Emanuel Morgan had a steal and basket, with Dominique Jordan and Roosevelt Adams adding 3-pointers to extend the lead to 57-43. Aitor Zubizarreta had a trio of lay-ups and Adams had a put-back basket to give C of I a 70-45 lead with nine minutes remaining.

Four Coyotes scored in double-figures, led by Nebeker with 15 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots.  Zubizarreta, Morgan and Pinckney all scored 11, with Aziz Leeks leading the team with 11 rebounds.

Grandle had 16 points and Redrick scored 13 – but the Yotes limited the Lions to just 32-percent shooting from the field – including 8-of-32 shooting from outside the arc.

C of I closes out the regular season with four home dates – beginning Friday vs. Oregon Tech.
