ASHLAND, Ore. – A career-night by
Alyssa Case was not enough for the College of Idaho, as No. 6 ranked Southern Oregon used a big second quarter to defeat the Lady Yotes, 93-70, in a Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, semifinal at Mountain Avenue Gym.
The loss by the Yotes ends their season with a 13-15 – the third-straight year that C of I has dropped a postseason game at Southern. The Raiders (27-3) will host Eastern Oregon on Monday for the league title and secured the CCC's second automatic bid to the NAIA Championships with the victory.
C of I trailed 22-18 after the first quarter, but made just 2-of-13 shots in the second period, as SOU outscored the visitors 23-8 in the period to take a 19-point lead to the break. A
Madison Pilster jumper late in the third quarter got the Yotes within 60-45, but the Raiders scored 22 of the next 27 points to put the game away.
Six Southern players scored in double figures, with Tiani Bradford, Autumn Durand and Majerle Reeves all scored 15 points – as the Raiders made 14 of 26 3-point attempts in the victory.
Case led C of I with a season-high 22 points and 11 rebounds, making 4-of-6 3-point attempts.
Petra Lumpert had 16 points, Pilster added 15 points and
Maddie Skaggs scored 10.
The loss ended the playing careers of five Coyote seniors – Lumpert, Pilster, Skaggs,
Kiara Skinner and
Jaycin Tini.
