CALDWELL, Idaho –
Aziz Leeks recorded his third-straight double-double and
Talon Pinckney flirted with a triple-double, as the College of Idaho won the Domino's Classic title with a 60-51 win over Montana Tech inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The win for the Yotes (3-3) was their 12th in a row when allowing under 60 points in a game, with the team now 22-1 all-time under head coach
Scott Garson in such games.
A 9-0 run, sparked by three-straight Pinckney driving buckets broke a 13-13 deadlock – as the Yotes grinded to a 29-23 halftime edge. The lead would grow to 39-29 on a Leeks 3-pointer, but the Orediggers (4-3) would ride the hot hand of John Chapman, who drained back-to-back triples, to cut the lead to 48-44 with under seven minutes remaining.
C of I stood strong, as three consecutive Leeks baskets extended the lead back to 10 points as the Yotes continued their success on their home floor.
Leeks had 15 points and 11 rebounds, whle Pinckney had 12 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
Keun Palu-Thompson scored 13 with
Gibson Berryhill adding nine in key minutes off the bench.
John Chapman scored a game-high 11 for LCSC, with Dylan Pannabecker adding 10 ponits and six boards.
The Yotes next host Northwest Nazarene at 7:05 in the second half of the United Heritage Insurance Mayors' Cup Series.
