HELENA, Mont. -
Hailey Boyd flicked home a corner kick in the 78th minute for the lone goal of the match, helping the College of Idaho topple defending Cascade Conference champion, Carroll College, 1-0, at Nelson Stadium.
The win for the Lady Yotes (4-6, 2-3) end a three-match losing streak - with each of the set backs by 1-0 margins. It marked just the second win all-time at Carroll.
After an even first half where the teams combined for just three shots on frame - the pace picked up in the second 45.
Cameron Coyle clanged an attempt off the crossbar in the 58th minute that would have given the Yotes the lead, while C of I weathered a string of four Saints (5-4-2, 1-3-2) corner kicks midway through the period.
C of I made the most of their second corner kick chance of the second half, as
Sabrina Mallett lifted a looping ball into the middle of the 6-yard-box, with Boyd getting a solid boot on the ball, driving it into the upper right corner of the net for the game winner.
The Saints nearly tied it in the 82nd minute, as Katie Anderson had a open, unmarked shot from inside the area - but drove the attempt over the crossbar.
Brittany Houghton made two saves in recording her 29th career win in goal and her 17th career shutout.
The Lady Yotes remain on the road next weekend with games at Northwest Christian and Corban.
