GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Sydney Knieriem hit a 30-yard free kick into the upper left corner of the net inside the final two minutes of the match, lifting the University of Providence to a 1-0 victory over the College of Idaho at Argo Field.
A foul outside the area gave the Argos (4-5, 3-2 CCC) the late opportunity – with Knieriem bending the shot just past the outstretched arms of C of I keeper
Brittany Houghton for the winning tally.
UP held a commanding 14-6 edge in shots and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks – but Houghton kept the Lady Yotes (3-6, 1-3) in the match, making six saves.
C of I had a pair of early chances, including an
Erika Thompson 15-yard strike that missed just right of the target in the 20th minute.
It was the sixth 1-0 loss for the Lady Yotes this season.
C of I returns to action on Sunday, traveling to Carroll College.
