CALDWELL, Idaho – Six different College of Idaho players recorded five or more kills, as the Lady Yotes defeated Warner Pacific College 25-12, 25-22, 25-19, in Cascade Conference action inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The Lady Yotes (10-6, 5-3 CCC) recorded nine team blocks and limited WPC to a .030 hitting percentage in the three set win.
C of I set the tone in the opening period, getting kills from
Ashley Pagan,
Jackie van Vliet,
Randi Sturtz and
Brenna Meehan and forced the Knights (5-5, 4-4) into six hitting errors in a 10-1 run to open the match – with the Yotes cruising to the set win.
Set 2 was close, as WPC evened the score at 16-all after a C of I hitting error and trailed 24-22 after a Kealia Rosa ace. However, Pagan blasted a kill on the next rally to end the frame.
The Yotes took command of Set 3 early, as Meehan had two kills in an opening 9-3 run, with a Pagan stuff block pushing the margin to 20-13, as C of I remained unbeaten against the Knights all-time in Caldwell.
Alaina Slater and Meehan each had eight kills for the Yotes, with Sturtz and van Vliet each recording six kills and four blocks and Pagan and
Katy Robinson both finishing with five kills.
Jayde Folsom had 22 assists to lead C of I, with
Kilee Lopez recording 14 digs.
Janessa Mast had 11 kills to pace the Knights, with Rosa leading all players with 26 assists and Brandy Velasquez leading all players with 16 digs.
C of I hits the road for the next two weekends, opening next Friday at Southern Oregon.
