Lady Yotes Pick Up Road Win at Evergreen

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Three College of Idaho players recorded double-digit kill nights, as the Lady Yotes defeated the Evergreen State College, 26-24, 25-12, 25-21, tonight inside Costantino Recreation Center.

The win for the Lady Yotes (8-5, 3-2 CCC) extended their win streak to 25 matches against the Geoducks, dating back to 2003.

Brenna Meehan had 11 kills and 10 digs to lead the C of I charge, with Ashley Pagan adding 10 kills and nine digs and Randi Sturtz recording 10 kills and two blocks, as the Yotes hit at a solid .295 clip for the night.

Set 1 was tight throughout, with the Yotes taking a 24-22 lead on Cheyan Coburn's 100th career ace, only to see the Geoducks (2-9, 1-4) earn a side out and take advantage of a C of I hitting error to even the score.  However, back-to-back errors by the hosts gave the Coyotes the needed points to earn the set victory.

Set 2 was all Yotes, using a 9-1 run midway through the period, including three Meehan kills and one of five Alaina Slater blocks, to extend a 10-8 lead to 19-9 and cruise the win.

Five early ties in Set 3 kept the Geoducks around, but a pair of kills from both Pagan and Meehan were the difference in an 8-3 run that built C of I a 20-14 edge that was never threatened.

Jayde Folsom had 35 assists and 10 digs, with Kilee Lopez leading the Yotes with 15 digs.

Natalie Taylor and Chloe Hunt each had nine kills to pace ESC, with setter Kylie Kytan leading her team with 24 assists.

C of I returns to action tomorrow night at Northwest University.  Match time has been moved from 5 p.m. (PDT) to 7 p.m. (PDT)
