WALLA WALLA, Washington, - Two goals from
Guilherme Siqueira lifted the Yotes over Whitman College 3-1 in a road victory on Sunday.
Whitman took an early lead off of a goal from Austin Betschart in the 29th minute.
College of Idaho responded quickly with an equalizer from Siqueira in the 34th minute off of an assist from Memhed Selimovic. The match remained tied going into half at 1-1 with both teams taking an equal number of shots (6).
Joao Cardoso wasted no time to begin the second half, scoring the go-ahead goal just 29 seconds in.
Cole Fuller was credited with the assist to give the Yotes a 2-1 lead.
Siqueira scored his second goal of the match in the 53rd minute to capture the 3-1 victory for College of Idaho. The Yotes improved to 2-1 on the season.
C of I outshot Whitmore 14-10 in the match with landed more shots on goal (6-3).
Grant Billings recorded two saves and defended against nine corners attempted by Whitmore.
The Yotes begin Cascade Conference action next Saturday against Rocky Mountain College. The Battlin' Bears are 1-2 on the season and will face University of Mary before hosting College of Idaho.
