CALDWELL, Idaho –
Marck Coffin made the most of his Senior Night, flirting with a triple-double as the College of Idaho registered a much needed 91-58 victory over Multnomah University inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
Coffin scored 17 points, added a career-high 16 rebounds and nine assists – as the Yotes (15-11, 10-7 CCC) went wire-to-wire and clinched their 19th-straight postseason appearance.
One of four seniors playing their final regular-season home game, Coffin scored eight points in a 19-4 run over the first seven minutes of the game.
The Lions (4-20, 1-15) would cut the margin to 27-16 on a Thomas Simien lay-up, but the surge was short-lived.
Emanuel Morgan splashed a trey,
Aitor Zubizarreta hammed home a baseline dunk and
Joey Nebeker scored seven-straight points – as the 12-0 run helped C of I build a 47-24 halftime lead – a margin that would grow to 89-49 in the second half.
Nebeker tallied 22 points and seven rebounds for the Coyotes – his 14th game this season with 20-or-more points. Morgan had 11 points, eight assists and four steals and Zubizarreta scored 10. The three remaining seniors all had solid nights, as
Andrew Bruce scored a season-high 13 points;
Teejay Gordon scored five; with
Ryan Davis scoring two points with a season-high six rebounds.
The Yotes limited MU to just 28-percent shooting from the field, including 8-of-46 from 3-point range. Ben Grandle led the Lions with 20 points, with Blake Updike scoring 16.
C of I, which finished the regular-season 11-5 at home, head to Oregon Tech next Saturday night for a crucial conference counter.
