LEWISTON, Idaho –
Petra Lumpert scored 22 points and tied a school record with 11 assists for the College of Idaho, but the Lady Yotes upset bid came up just short, as host Lewis-Clark State topped their in-state rival, 82-72, inside the LCSC Activity Center.
Natahnee Spencer was 7-of-9 from outside the arc for the Warriors (4-0), including a trio of triples in a 15-2 first quarter run, as LCSC built a 23-11 lead. The margin would grow to 47-27 late in the second quarter on a Megan Risinger basket, before the Yotes (0-4) responded.
C of I limited L-C to just two made field goals over the next seven minutes, using a 18-4 run – including seven Lumpert points, to pull within 51-45 with five minutes left in the third quarter. The Warriors, however, got consecutive baskets from Hailey Turner in a 9-2 run to end the quarter to regain a 13-point lead and held on for the victory.
Spencer led all scorers with 27 points, as LCSC made 14-of-27 3-pointers in the victory.
Alyssa Case had 15 points for the Lady Yotes, with
Madison Pilster adding 14 in the loss.
C of I returns home next Saturday for an exhibition game against rival Northwest Nazarene.
