Big Second Half Helps Yotes Win at Lewis-Clark State

LEWISTON, Idaho – Roosevelt Adams hit a pair of three-pointers in a key 22-6 second half run, as the College of Idaho rallied from a 13-point deficit to topple Lewis-Clark State, 85-75, in a battle of Top-25 foes in the nightcap of the Clearwater River Casino Classic.

Aziz Leeks scored a game-high 24 points and added 10 rebounds for the NAIA Division II No. 7 ranked Coyotes (2-1) – stopping the NAIA Division I No. 15 ranked Warriors on their home court for the second-straight time.

LCSC (2-1) closed out the first half on a 7-0 run and scored the first five points of the second half, as an Isaiah Omamogho triple gave the Warriors their largest lead of the evening at 47-34.  The margin would sit at 52-40 after an Anthony Sullen trey with 17 minutes left – when the tide changed quickly.

Leeks converted three inside baskets; Joey Nebeker had a pair of slashing counters; Emanuel Morgan converted a pair of lay-ups; and Adams sandwiched a pair of free throws around the two big 3's – as C of I regained the lead at 62-56. The margin would extend to 77-63 late on two Aitor Zubizarreta free throws as the Coyotes cruised to the win.

C of I made 55-percent of their field goal attempts in the victory and connected on 18-of-19 free throws in the second half.

Adams had 14 points and five rebounds off the bench, with Nebeker and Zubizarreta each scoring 12.

Doug McDaniel led LCSC with 21 points and seven rebounds, but the Warriors struggled down the stretch, converting just 33-percent of their field goals after the break.

C of I closes out tournament play tomorrow with a 3 p.m. (PST) tip-off against Montana Tech.
