KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A goal in the first four minutes was all Oregon Tech needed, as the Owls punched their ticket to the postseason with a 3-0 victory over the College of Idaho.
The loss for the Yotes (4-12, 3-10 CCC) was C of I's fifth in a row and their ninth loss in 10 matches to end the season. The victory for Tech advances the team to the Cascade Conference Championships and a quarterfinal date with Rocky Mountain.
Daniel Blessinger hammered home a rebound of a Brennan Gazdik shot off the cross bar and into the net in the fourth minute to give OIT (9-7-2, 6-6-1) the quick lead. C of I tried to answer in the period, but Owls keeper Dino Rozak made two of his game-high six saves in the frame.
Tech put the game out of reach early in the second half, as Austin Schoenmann redirected a rebound of a Gazdik shot in the 55th minute to make it a two goal game, while five minutes later, Leonardo Alonzo chipped home a Lodewijk Bloemzaad cross to extend the margin to 3-0.
OIT held a 23-14 edge in shots and a 7-2 lead in corner kicks.
