Defense Carries Yotes to 94-59 Win at Multnomah

PORTLAND, Ore. – A stifling defensive effort held host Multnomah University to just 31-percent shooting from the floor, as the College of Idaho went wire-to-wire, routing the Lions, 94-59, at Jim Skagen Court.

Joey Nebeker led the Yotes with 23 points in just 23 minutes, with Emanuel Morgan recording a career-high 11 assists – as C of I shot a season-best 54-percent from the field.
 
The Yotes held MU (4-11, 1-6) without a made field goal for the first eight minutes of the game – forcing the hosts into 14-consecutive missed shots from the outset.  C of I took advantage, as Aitor Zubizarreta scored seven points in the 18-1 run.
 
A Mikey Chown 3-pointer got the Lions within 28-17, but Nebeker countered with two deep 3-pointers, as the Yotes pushed the lead to 50-29 at the break.  C of I scored 17 of the first 22 points after the break, with three-straight Marck Coffin lay-ups giving the Yotes a 69-34 lead at the 14 minute mark of the second half.
 
Nebeker was 9-of-13 from the field in the win, with Zubizarreta scoring 14 points with six rebounds.  Coffin added 12 points, five rebounds and a team-high four steals; Curtis Brever hit 3-of-5 triples for his nine points; Michael Goward had eight points; with Spiros Tarlas scoring six points with six boards.
 
The Coyotes clamped down on the Cascade Conference's leading scorer, Blake Updike, limiting him to 14 points on 5-of-16 shooting.  Jason Wyncoop had 12 points and Jordan Paris had five points and 13 rebounds, as MU shot a staggering 46 3-point attempts, making 13.
 
C of I returns to action tomorrow night for a showdown at No. 24 Warner Pacific.
