PORTLAND, Ore. – Forcing 29 hitting errors and recording 10 team blocks, the College of Idaho won their fifth match in six outings, dominating Multnomah University in three sets inside Jim Skagen Court.
The Lady Yotes (7-8, 5-2 CCC) did not trail in each of the final two sets of a 25-15, 25-10, 25-12 victory in the first-ever meeting between the teams.
After five ties and four lead changes in the opening 20 points of the first set, the Yotes got kills from five different players in a 9-1 run to break open a 13-12 score and ease to the early win.
The Yotes scored 16 of the first 20 points of Set 2, including three aces from Cheyan Coburn, to dominate the period, while jumping out to a 9-2 lead in Set 3 to complete the sweep.
Randi Sturtz led C of I with eight kills, with Katy Robinson adding six kills without an attack error. Sierra Porter had 12 assists, Jayde Folsom had 11 assists and 10 digs, Jackie van Vliet had four blocks, and Kilee Lopez led all players with 14 digs.
The Lions (1-7, 0-7) got nine kills each from Miranda Halverson and Patricia Batton, with setter Marissa Rhodes recording 20 assists and 11 digs.
C of I returns to action tomorrow night with a 5 p.m. match at Warner Pacific.
