Lady Yotes Continue Dominance over Warner Pacific

PORTLAND, Ore. – Katy Robinson, Kylie Porter, and Abbey Fenton each had 15 kills to lead the College of Idaho to a four-set win over Warner Pacific inside C.C. Perry Gym.

The 23-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-19 victory by the Lady Yotes (8-8, 6-2 CCC) was C of I's fourth win in a row, their sixth win in seven outings, and their 39th-straight win against WP.

The Knights (4-7, 3-5) controlled Set 1, getting a pair of Nicole Lisoski kills in a 5-1 run to open the period – as C of I never led in the frame.  The Yotes cut the margin to 21-20 on a WP hitting error, but seven consecutive side-outs helped the hosts secure the set win.

A 6-2 surge to start Set 2 put the Knights in position for an upset, but two C of I blocks and two aces paved the way to a 12-3 run to build a 14-9 lead.  Warner got even at 21-21 after a Yote hitting error, but kills from Robinson and Jackie van Vliet stopped the rally, with a Sturtz spike evening the match at a set apiece.

Two kills each from Lisoski and Janessa White helped the Knight sprint to a 10-6 lead in Set 3, but a Sturtz-van Vliet block tied the set at 14-14, starting a six-point C of I run that gave the visitors the set win.

C of I capped the win with a 6-1 run early in Set 4 to establish a 13-8 lead, pounding 18 kills in the period to close out the victory.

Fenton recorded just one hitting error in her 22 swings, hitting at a .636 clip, while Porter logged just two hitting errors in 24 swings for a season-high .542 hitting percentage.  As a team, the Yotes posted a .336 attack percentage, their second-best mark of 2015.

Sierra Porter had 50 assists and a team-high 11 digs, with van Vliet recording eight kills and five blocks.

White had 18 kills and Nicole Kincaide had 14 kills in the loss for WP, with setter Kealia Rosa leading the team with 52 assists and 11 digs.

C of I returns to action next weekend, hosting nationally-ranked Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech.
