EUGENE, Ore. – Randi Sturtz had a match-high 12 kills, lifting the College of Idaho to a four-set road victory at Northwest Christian tonight in the Morse Events Center.
The Lady Yotes (4-7, 2-1 CCC) earned a 25-21, 25-13, 23-25, 25-13 win over the Beacons, remaining unbeaten all-time against NCU.
An eight-point run by the Yotes in Set 1 broke a 6-6 tie, as Sturtz had two kills and a block in the surge. C of I continued the onslaught in Set 2, rattling off 15-of-17 points , getting two Cheyan Coburn aces and taking advantage of six NCU (7-3, 0-3) errors in building a commanding 22-8 lead.
The Beacons forced a fourth set by erasing a 12-8 C of I lead in the third period. Four NCU service aces keyed the 9-2 run, with a pair of Chandler Gabrio kills ending the set.
C of I left no doubt in Set 4, as Sturtz and Katy Robinson each had two kills in a nine-point run to take a 16-8 lead and ease to the match win.
Robinson had nine kills; Jackie van Vliet had seven kills and six blocks; and Kylie Porter added seven kills for C of I. Sierra Porter had 22 assists; Jayde Folsom had 14 assists and eight digs; with Kilee Lopez had 18 digs; with Coburn notching 14 digs and four aces.
Danielle Willyard had seven kills for NCU, as the Beacons recorded 31 hitting errors in the loss.
C of I closes out the road swing tomorrow, traveling to Corban for a 5 p.m. start.
