NAMPA, Idaho – Seven Northwest Nazarene pitchers combined on a five-hit shutout, as the Crusaders won the deciding game of a three game series with the College of Idaho, 12-0, at Elmore Vail Field.
The Crusaders (23-18) hit three home runs and took advantage of five C of I errors to pick up the series win against their Canyon County rival.
NNU took advantage of a key first inning error to plate five early runs – with a three-run homer from Tucker Campbell providing the big blow. An inning later, Josh Hatfield hit a long solo homer to right, with Tate Glasgow joining the home run parade with a solo blast in the fifth.
The Crusaders pitching staff limited the Yotes (28-19) to just two runners past second base on the night – including working out of a first and third, no out jam in the third, while the score was still 6-0. Ross Clevenger got the victory, tossing two innings of one-hit ball, striking out four.
Chase Miller was the bright spot for C of I, going 2-for-4, while reliever Gary Koopman fanned four in two innings of work.
The Yotes return to action this weekend with a four-game series against Concordia, beginning Saturday at 1 p.m.
