C of I never trailed on the afternoon, using a three-run bottom of the first to grab control of Game 1, as Katie Rowe rapped an RBI single, followed by a two-run base hit from Alexis Macias.
A Macias RBI ground out in the third extended the lead to 4-0, before Mountaineers' (12-19, 3-11) slugger Cassie Wendt clubbed a long three-run homer in the fourth, her tenth of the season, to cut the deficit to 4-3. C of I answered in the bottom of the frame and a Kristin Paulazzo RBI double and a two-run single from Destiny Turner to put the game out of reach.
Cortni Pena recorded her team-high tenth win of the season, scattering seven hits in her five innings of work. Hoagland was 2-for-4 with two doubles, with Destiny Campbell going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Eastern made it 6-2 in the third on a Shelby Baertsch home run and added a Marisa Gonzalez RBI single in the fifth – but stranded the tying run at the plate to end the inning.
C of I got key insurance runs late – one on a Hoagland RBI triple in the fifth, and another on a Macias RBI double in the sixth.
