CALDWELL, Idaho – Aniese Palmore scored eight of her 17 points in a 25-6 run to end the second quarter, lifting Montana Western past College of Idaho, 74-48, in Game 2 of the Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Lady Yote Classic.

The Lady Yotes (0-5) hung tough early, opening the second quarter on a 7-1 run to take their largest lead of the night at 20-13 after an
Emily Rainboth 3-pointer. However, Sierra Higheagle hit two free throws and a triple, with Palmore draining back-to-back treys – followed by a lay-up to spark the Western run.
Leading 38-26 at the break, Higheagle canned two 3-pointers in a 10-2 third quarter run that extended the margin to 54-33, with the hosts unable to get closer than 15 points the rest of the way.
Higheagle had 17 points, including 4-of-8 shooting from outside the arc, with Palmore adding nine assists. Molly Klinker had 10 points and Kaye Bignell scored nine points and grabbed nine rebounds in the victory, as Western forced 18 turnovers.
Kiara Skinner led C of I with 13 points – all in the first half – with
Petra Lumpert scoring nine points, adding a game-high 11 rebounds and five assists. The Yotes made just 30-percent of their field goal attempts and were outscored in the paint, 38-16.
The Yotes return to action tomorrow, meeting Montana Tech in the tournament consolation game at 7 p.m.
