Lady Yotes Earn Biggest Win at Corban Since 1995

SALEM, Ore. – First half goals by Jamiece Yizar and Bri Blair held up, as the College of Idaho picked up their biggest win at Corban University in two decades, blanking the Warriors, 2-0.

The Lady Yotes (8-2, 4-1 CCC) remained tied for first in the loss column in the  Cascade Conference table, recording their first multi-goal win against Corban since a 2-0 victory in 1995.

C of I dominated the first half, putting eight shots on frame, breaking through in the 26th minute.  Pushing forward, Sydney Woods ripped a low liner that was knocked down by Warriors (3-7, 1-5) keeper Sheyenne Brusven, but Yizar was waiting at the far post, tapping home her team-leading 11th goal and fifth game-winning tally of 2015.

Coyote reserves added to the cushion, as freshman Bailey Watson played a through-ball past the Warriors defense to the rushing Blair, who calmly slotted the ball into the right corner of the net.

It was all the Yotes would need, as C of I kept Corban outside of the defensive third for the majority of the game.  Keeper Brittany Houghton made two saves for her third shutout of the season.

Brusven had seven saves in the loss for Corban, as C of I held an 11-9 edge in total shots.

The Yotes close out their road swing tomorrow with a 5:30 p.m. (PT) match-up at Northwest Christian.
