EUGENE, Ore. - Three goals in the first 18 minutes proved to be enough as the College of Idaho defeated Northwest Christian University, 4-2, in a wet contest earlier this evening.
Inclement weather made its way through Eugene just before things got underway, but the Lady Yotes (9-2-0, 5-1-0 CCC) were unphased. Jamiece Yizar led the attack early, netting the game's first goal on a breakaway ball played through by Aurora Ostolasa.
Ten minutes later, Ostolasa would be on the other end of the combination, scoring on a pass from Allie Swanson that brought out the keeper, setting up Ostolasa for the tap-in goal.
Less than two minutes after the Lady Yotes extended their lead to two, Yizar scored her second goal of the game on a breakaway, striking the back of the net from 10 yards out.
The Beacons (1-10-1, 1-6-0 CCC) cut into the deficit 10 minutes into the second half as Sami Wilson took a throughball and hit a chip shot over Abby Castro.Â
Summer Jackson extended the C of I lead back to three goals in the 74th minute as she broke free down the right side and hammered home a shot past the Beacons keeper.
NCU scored in the final five minutes of the contest but the Lady Yotes lead proved to be insurmountable.
C of I will be back in action next weekend when they host a pair of games to wrap up their 2015 home schedule. Things will get underway on Friday when the Lady Yotes take on Warner Pacific in a rematch of the CCC Playoffs from a year ago; C of I will wrap up the home schedule on Sunday against Eastern Oregon.
