HERMISTON, Ore. – Sydney Woods drove a 25-yard shot through the keeper and into the net four minutes into overtime, lifting the College of Idaho to a 2-1 victory over Great Falls at Kennison Field.
The game was rescheduled from Oct. 3 – when the teams were snowed out in the Electric City.
The Lady Yotes (13-3, 9-2 CCC) clinched the No. 2 seed in the Cascade Conference Championships with the victory, holding a commanding 20-5 edge in total shots.
C of I got on the board in the 42nd minute, as Reilly Coyle slotted home a feed in the box from Jamiece Yizar. The Yotes nearly made it 2-0 just before halftime, but a Hailey Boyd sitting header in the box clanged off the cross bar.
UGF (5-5-5, 2-5-4) converted their best opportunity of the day in the 88th minute, as Kayla Cobbett hit a shot that C of I keeper Brittany Houghton lost in the late day sun, finding the net to force overtime.
The Yotes would win it on the only shot of the extra session, as Woods collected a ball just outside the box and ripped a left-footed shot that snuck through Kayla Gray's hands for the Golden Goal.
C of I improved to 3-0 this season in overtime counters.
The Lady Yotes will learn their postseason foe on Sunday in preparation for the CCC Championships, Nov. 11-14, in Eugene, Ore.
