CALDWELL, Idaho – A great all-around performance helped the College of Idaho clinch a spot in the Cascade Conference Championships, as the Lady Yotes topped Warner Pacific in four sets on Dig Pink Night inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The Lady Yotes (15-9, 13-3 CCC) won for the fifth-straight time, their 11th win in 12 matches, and extended a win streak to 37 against WPC with a 25-14, 25-18, 23-25, 25-15 victory.
C of I registered a .340 hitting percentage, recording just 10 attack errors in the four-set match, while piling up 16.5 team blocks – including seven in the decisive fourth set.
The hosts cruised in Set 1, getting a pair of Katy Robinson kills in a 6-point run midway through the period to take a 18-9 lead; while using a 13-4 surge, including three Kylie Porter kills, to erase a 5-2 Knights (9-11, 6-9) lead in Set 2.
WP battled back in Set 3, erasing an early 8-3 deficit – riding six Janessa White kills to take a 20-15 lead and held off a late Coyote rally.
Set 4 featured seven ties, the last at 12-all, before an 11-2 C of I run – including four combo-blocks from Kylie Porter and Sierra Porter – put the match away.
Robinson had 11 kills and five blocks; Kylie Porter had 11 kills and seven blocks, with Abbey Fenton recording 10 kills in the win. Sierra Porter had a monster night, clocking seven kills, 41 assists, 17 digs and seven blocks; Kilee Lopez had 17 digs; with both Emilee Chapman and Cheyan Coburn recording 10 digs and two aces.
White led WPC with 18 kills and Grace Rivers had nine kills in the loss. Setter Kealia Rosa led all players with 48 assists and Brandy Velasquez finished with 20 digs.
C of I closes out their home schedule tomorrow afternoon at 5 p.m., hosting Multnomah. It marks the final regular-season home match for three seniors – Chapman, Kylie Porter and Sierra Porter.
