OLYMPIA, Wash. – A dominating first half performance helped the College of Idaho run their win streak to 6-straight, rolling to a 3-1 victory at the Evergreen State College at Geoduck Pitch.
The Lady Yotes (12-2, 8-1 CCC) had a 15-2 edge in shots in the opening 45 minutes – getting a pair of goals from reserve players to build a lead they would not relinquish.
Brittany Houghton continued her stellar play, as C of I's keeper extended her scoreless streak to 519 minutes, blanking the Geoducks (2-10, 2-6) for the first 67 minutes before she was lifted.
C of I got on the board at the beginning of the 24th minute, as Summer Jackson played a ball into the box to Bailey Watson – who cracked a shot through ESC keeper Alison Mackey for a 1-0 lead.
In the 35th minute, the Yotes added to their cushion, as Sabrina Mallett touched a pass just outside the box to Megan Aumeier, who beat Mackey to the left corner of the net.
Mallory Cripps got into the act in the 55th minute, crushing a left-footed blast into the top shelf from 20-yards – allowing the Yotes to play all 26 players who made the trip.
The Geoducks averted the shutout in the waning seconds, as MacKenzie Bolton touched home a rebound of a shot in the Coyote box.
C of I held a commanding 23-9 overall edge in shots, and had a 5-3 lead in corner kicks.
Tomorrow, the Yotes travel to Kirkland, Wash., for a meeting Northwest University at Noon (PDT).
