Yotes Pull Away from Eastern Oregon

CALDWELL, Idaho – Josh Wilson scored a career-high 22-points as the No. 5 ranked College of Idaho defeated their oldest continuous rival, Eastern Oregon University, 94-75, inside a stuffed J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
 
The Coyotes (16-3, 5-2) got off to a blazing start in part to Wilson going 4-for-4 from 3-point territory, leading 28-15 through the first 10 minutes of the contest.
 
C of I extended their lead at the first-half buzzer as senior Joe Vaz returned to the lineup and knocked down a hook shot as time expired, giving the Yotes a 48-41 advantage at the intermission.
 
Michael Crane brought the Mountaineers (9-7, 2-5) within a point at 57-56 with 14-minutes remaining as he hit a driving layup to bring Eastern Oregon the closest they would get to the Coyotes for the remainder of the game.
 
The Yotes closed out the game on a 15-5 run, including Demetrius Perkins going a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line to secure the victory.
 
De'Sean Mattox led the Mountaineers with a game-high 33-points on 16 shots, shooting 5-of-10 from deep and getting another ten points from the charity stripe.
 
C of I led the game for 38:13 of the 40-minutes, trailing Eastern Oregon for just 19-seconds when EOU took a 6-5 lead in the opening minutes.
 
Wilson added nine rebounds to his line along with six assists, shooting 8-of-12 on the night, including 4-of-5 from deep. Perkins recorded another double-double, scoring 15-points and pulling down 10 boards. Marko Kovacevic scored 21-points on 9-of-13 shooting in 29-minutes of action. In his return, Vaz scored 10-points in just 15-minutes of action.
 
With the win, the Coyotes extended their home winning streak to 27 games and 688 days without a loss at home.
 
C of I will be back in action next weekend when they take on Corban University Friday night in Salem, Ore. at 7:30 p.m. (PT)
