PORTLAND, Ore. – Earl Jones led the charge with 17 points as the No.20 ranked Warner Pacific College upset the No.3 ranked College of Idaho, 81-62, earlier this evening at Bart Valentine Court.
The Knights (19-5, 9-3) received double-digit scoring from four players to storm back after a halftime deficit of two points, outscoring the Coyotes (21-4, 10-3) by 21 points in the second half.
Michael Hall scored two of his 12 points on a layup with 13:46 remaining in the contest to give the Knights their first lead of the second half.
The Coyotes hung around until Coletun Tarr hit a jumper with 6:25 left to stretch the Knight lead to double-digits. Warner Pacific would go on to extend the lead to 20 points in the final minutes.
Marko Kovacevic led the Yotes with 18 points with two other C of I players reaching the double-digit mark as Jordan O'Byrne scored 16 points with four 3-pointers and Josh Wilson added 12 points with six rebounds.
The Coyote loss marks just the second time this year the Yotes have lost by double-digits as well as the second lowest scoring output this season.
C of I remains a half-game up on the Knights in the conference standings, notching one more win on an uneven number of games played thus far.
The Yotes will be back in action next Friday when the I-84 rivalry is renewed in La Grande, Oregon, against Eastern Oregon at 7:30 p.m. (PT)
