Box Score CALDWELL, Idaho – Two goals in a 64 second span late in the second half lifted the Evergreen State College to a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over the College of Idaho in the Cascade Conference men's soccer opener for both teams.
Trailing 2-1 in the 86th minute, Willie Spurr played a ball over the top of the box to the foot of Nate Boatright, flicking a shot off the left post and in for the equalizer. A minute later, Albert Anabtwai played a long through-ball over the C of I defense, with Ethan Sumlin sidestepping keeper John French and tapping home the game-winner.
The Yotes (3-2, 0-1) scored less than two minutes into the game when Joe Bolin knocked drove a shot into the net off a Nate Hunt corner kick. ESC evened the game in the fifth minute, as Juan Oropeza made a nifty cross-over move in the left corner of the box, driving a low left-footed shot into the right corner of the net.
C of I regained the lead in the 15th minute, as Hunt played a through-ball up the center of the field to Bolin, who beat Geoducks (1-3, 1-0) keeper Angel Guerra for the go-ahead score. The Yotes had chances to add to their lead, but Bolin hit the crossbar in the 61
st minute and a post in the final 10 minutes with a low shot to the far post.
Both teams had 16 shots on the afternoon, with French making a career-high eight saves for the Yotes, with Guerra making six saves for ESC.
The Coyotes continue their four-match home stand on Saturday, hosting Oregon Tech at 1 p.m.
