PORTLAND, Ore. - Concordia pitchers limited the College of Idaho to just two runs all afternoon, as the Cavaliers grabbed a series victory with 12-2 and 2-0 victories over the Yotes at Porter Park.

The losses by the Coyotes (23-17, 14-10 NAIA West) drop the club two games back of British Columbia for the opportunity to host the NAIA West Grouping Championships in early May - with just four games remaining in the regular season.

The Cavaliers (22-18, 12-12) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening inning on a Ryan McMonigle two-run single, with a Cole Pitman bases loaded walk in the second making it 3-0.

The Yotes got on the board in the third on a Jake Hennessey sacrifice fly, but CU batted around in both the third and fourth innings to blow the game wide open - including back-to-back RBI doubles by Trent Calmer and Blake Drake, as the Cavs pushed their lead to 11-1 - winning the game after seven innings due to the mercy rule.

Drake and Christian Lichtenthale each had three hits for CU, while Blake Evetts limited C of I to just four hits.

Game 2 was a pitchers' dual throughout, as Coyote starter Markus Lively held the Cavs to just five hits.  However, CU scratched across an unearned run in the third on a Mike Egami RBI single, with Drake adding an RBI single in the fifth to make it 2-0.  The Yotes had their chances, stranding runners in scoring position four times - including the bases loaded in the third and ninth innings.

Gregg Simonds, Sam Johnston, and Mitch Skaggs each had two hits in the loss for C of I.

The Yotes close out the regular-season next weekend, hosting Menlo College in a four-game series.
