CALDWELL, Idaho – Erasing a 22-point first half deficit, The College of Idaho equaled their longest win streak in 13 seasons, rallying for an emphatic 93-80 victory over Northwest University, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The No. 5 ranked Yotes (25-5, 16-2 CCC), who improved to 14-0 at home this season, used a tenacious defensive effort into a 57-23 run over a 15 minute stretch to seize control of the game in front of a raucous Senior Night crowd.
The Eagles (19-10, 10-8) dominated play in the first half, getting back-to-back mid-range jumpers from C.J. Carter in a 12-0 run to grab a 22-10 lead. The margin would balloon to 41-19 with just over four minutes remaining in the half, before three's from Emanuel Morgan and Taylor Pruett helped cut the deficit to 45-32 at the half.
The second half was all Yotes – forcing 13 turnovers in the period, resulting in 21 points. Josh Wilson and Antonio Garrett each had a pair of buckets, with a three from Pruett capping a 17-3 run that gave C of I a 54-43 lead with 12 minutes to go.
A long Carter three pulled NU even at 60-60, but C of I put the game away with a 16-4 run, keyed by back-to-back Jordan O'Byrne buckets and a fast-break lay-up by Wilson.
Wilson led an unselfish Coyote squad with 19 points and 10 assists – as C of I had 30 assists on 32 made field goals. Garrett had 18 points, Sydney Donaldson had all 12 of his points and five steals in the second half, with Joe Vaz logging 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Carter led NU with 15 points, with Michael Russo and Nemanja Grujicic each scoring 14.
