POCATELLO, Idaho – Anna Policicchio scored 19 points and added 10 rebounds, as Idaho State used an impressive second half to defeat upset-minded College of Idaho, 81-48, inside Reed Gym.
Box Score The Bengals (5-6), who trailed by as many as 11 points in the first half, used a sizeable edge on the glass and outscored the NAIA Coyotes 46-18 after the break.
C of I, who played the game as an exhibition, came out hot – making seven of their first eight shots – staking themselves to a 17-6 lead just four minutes into the game.
An Elisha Hensey jumper with just under seven minutes in the period gave the Lady Yotes a 26-20 lead, before the Division I hosts flexed their muscles. Policicchio scored six points in a 15-0 surge to help ISU take a 35-30 lead to the locker room.
From there, the Bengals defense took over, holding the Yotes to 5-of-24 shooting from the field in the second half, with ISU using 13 offensive rebounds in the period – including six from Lindsey Brown – to break the game open.
Brown finished with nine points and a game-high 14 rebounds, with Grace Kenyon recording 15 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists for ISU, as the Bengals had 60 total rebounds in the victory.
Hensey and Alicia Jones each had 11 points for the Lady Yotes, with local product Jamiece Yizar scoring seven points and adding seven rebounds in her return to her home town.
