SALEM, Ore. – Four College of Idaho players recorded double-digit kills as the Lady Yotes held off an inspired Corban University team in five sets tonight inside the C.E. Jeffers Center.
The Yotes (15-11, 12-5 CCC) extended their win streak over the Warriors to 20 games with their 25-20, 25-19, 20-25, 23-25, 15-9 victory.
Emily Ottinger led the way with 16 kills, with both Kylie Porter and Bailee Kendall logging 14 kills and Jenessa Koelliker 12.
C of I jumped out to the two set lead, scoring the first six points of the match to cruise to the Set 1 win, then got three kills from Abbey Fenton in an 8-3 run to close Set 2.
The Warriors (7-18, 3-14), playing for the first time since freshman player Esther Suelzle was diagnosed with cancer, rallied to force a Set 5. Kasey Calderon had three Set 3 aces, including one in a 5-0 run late in the frame, while Corban used a 9-1 run late in Set 4, getting three Shantelle Hill kills, to earn the set win.
In the finale, Koelliker had two kills as C of I opened the set on a 7-2 run, with back-to-back Fenton kills pushing the margin to 12-5.
Sierra Porter had 54 assists and 10 digs in the win, with Kilee Lopez leading all players with 20 kills.
Hill had 21 kills and 14 digs for Corban, with Claire Bailey notching 11 kills and eight digs.
C of I closes out the regular-season tomorrow night with a 5 p.m. match-up at Northwest Christian.
