LA GRANDE, Ore. – Joey Nebeker led five College of Idaho players in double-figures with 15 points, as the Coyotes rolled to a 95-55 victory over Portland Bible at the Aramark Quinn Classic inside Quinn Coliseum.
The No. 7 ranked Coyotes (2-0) bolted out to a 14-1 lead in the first four minutes to win back-to-back games to start a season for the first time since 2006-07.
Demetrius Perkins scored seven of his 10 points in the opening run, including an alley-oop dunk on the first C of I possession, as the C of I lead never fell below double-digits.
The Yotes led 47-27 at the half, with Nebeker fueling a 21-4 run early in the second half with three baskets and a pair of free throws, as C of I took a 78-40 lead with nine minutes to play.
Marko Kovacevik had 12 points, Andrew Bruce came off the bench to score 12, and Joe Vaz logged 11 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks in the victory. C of I hit 55-percent of his field goal attempts and held a 48-32 edge on the glass.
Bryce Layne led the Wildcats with 13 points and three assists.
C of I opens up its home schedule next Friday night as part of rebranded Taco Bell Shoot-Out. The Yotes will host nationally-ranked Arizona Christian at 7 p.m., with Eastern Oregon meeting Walla Walla in the early game at 2 p.m.
