KIRKLAND, Wash. – Using a man advantage for the entire second half, Northwest University tallied a pair of goals to break a halftime deadlock to defeat the College of Idaho, 3-1.
The Eagles (6-2, 2-2 CCC) had a 14-4 edge in shots after the break, with Todd Siedenburg scoring the game-winner in the 52nd minute on a Trever Moll cross to the top of the 18, finishing the feed into the upper corner of the net. NU would get a late score from Taylor Young in the final minute for insurance.
C of I (5-5, 2-4) scored first in the opening half, as in the 24th minute, Jake Helm played a cross into the middle of the box – finding the foot of Tyler Lawton, who drove home a one-timer inside the right post for a 1-0 lead. The hosts would counter in the 37th minute, as Moll took a cross from Young and roped a shot in traffic past Yotes keeper Grant Billings to tie the score.
The play of the game, however, occurred just after the halftime horn, as C of I's Tyler Sharp was issued a red card – giving the Eagles an 11-on-10 advantage the rest of the way.
NU held a 24-9 edge in shots, but only a 5-4 lead in corner kicks.
C of I closes out a five-match road swing next weekend with games at Corban and Northwest Christian.
