Box Score
PORTLAND, Ore. – Dayna Drager scored 27 of her career-high 36 points in the second half, leading The College of Idaho to a 95-74 victory over Concordia University at Cavalier Court.
The senior became just the fourth player in Lady Yotes (7-7, 4-2 CCC) history to score 36 points or more, with only Nicole Gall (43 vs. Whitworth in 2009) and Christon Vander Esch (39 vs. Southern Oregon in 2009) scoring more. Gall scored 36 in a game twice, with Heidi Goicoechea scoring 36 during the 2002-03 season.
The Cavaliers (3-13, 1-4) trailed by 10 at the break, but got a pair of three-pointers from Janae Klarich as part of a 14-2 run early in the second half to tie the score at 49-49. Drager took over from there, scoring 13-straight points, including three of her five second half treys, to help the Yotes build a 70-58 lead midway through the period. C of I iced the game by hitting 11-of-13 free throws in the second half.
CU tried to stay close in the first half – as C of I's leading scorer, Erica Martinez, and leading rebounder, Chakala Carthen, were on the bench in foul trouble. However, Aleah Lowber stepped up in the opening period, scoring 14 of her season-high 20 points, as the Yotes took a 45-35 lead to the break.
Sienna Edmunson came off the bench to score a season-high 12 points, adding five rebounds and five assists – connecting on 8-of-8 free throw attempts. Carthen, who played just four minutes in the first half, finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Caitlyn McCutcheon had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead CU, with Lexi Campbell scoring 13 and McKenna Daly scoring 10 points and grabbing eight boards. The Cavs made 39-percent of their field goal attempts and had 23 offensive rebounds, but could not overcome a 50-percent shooting night by the Yotes.
C of I closes out their three-game road trip next Friday night, meeting No. 24 ranked Eastern Oregon at 5:30 p.m. (PST)
