CALDWELL, Idaho – Behind a school-record 15 three-point baskets, The College of Idaho pulled into a three-way tie for second-place at the midway point of the Cascade Conference season, rolling past Northwest Christian, 76-64, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The Lady Yotes (9-8, 6-3 CCC) broke the previous mark of 14 made three's, established against Walla Walla three seasons ago – canning 11 treys in the opening half alone.
C of I burst out of the gate, sprinting to a 21-6 lead – connecting on their first five shots, with Erica Martinez and Aleah Lowber each making three three-pointers in the run.
Leading 48-34 at the half, C of I held the Beacons (5-12, 2-7) without a made field goal for the first four minutes of the second half – with back-to-back Dayna Drager three-pointers giving the Yotes their largest lead of the night at 57-35.
Martinez led four C of I players in double figures with 17 points, with Lowber and Drager each scoring 11. Chakala Carthen had her 11th double-double of the season, scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds, while Elisha Hensey had four points, seven rebounds, and a school-record tying 11 assists.
Chandler Gabrio had a big night in the loss for NCU, scoring a game-high 23 points and adding 14 rebounds, with Hannah Frederick and Melissa Weber each scoring eight.
The Lady Yotes hit the road next weekend, traveling for games at Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech.
