SPOKANE, Wash. – Limiting the College of Idaho to just three shots on the afternoon, the University of Great Falls cruised to a 2-0 victory in the final game of the Red Lion Cascade/Frontier Challenge at Dwight Merkel Field.
The Argos (4-1) opened the scoring in the 15th minute, as Danny Delgadillo placed a cross into the area, finding the foot of Luis Torres for the eventual game-winner.
UGF added to their lead early in the second half, as Juan Valderrama placed a corner kick to the far post, finding the head of Paul Sliwa to make it 2-0.
It was enough for Jose Pena, who turned away just one shot on goal by the Coyotes (0-4) to earn the win. UGF had a 12-3 edge in shots and a 6-3 edge in corners.
The Yotes open up Cascade Conference play a week from Tuesday, hosting Northwest Christian at 4 p.m.
