Rocky Mountain Stops Yotes 5-3

Yan Gioseffi scored two goals in the Yotes loss to Rocky
Box Score SPOKANE, Wash. - Oliver Gore scored a school-record five goals, leading Rocky Mountain College to a 5-3 victory over The College of Idaho in the opening game of the Red Lion-Cascade/Frontier Challenge.

Gore scored a pair of goals for the Bears (3-0) in the opening 12 minutes - taking a long pass from Chris Jermy in the fourth minute, flicking home a goal, then taking a pass at the top of the 18 and driving a shot home in the 12th minute.

The Yotes (0-3) pulled even in the next nine minutes - as Brandon Smith took a pass from Nicko Moreno inside the box in the 17th minute and drove a shot into the net, with Yan Gioseffi converting a penalty kick in the 22nd minute.

The surge was short lived, as Gore headed home a long cross from Joachim Soderstrom in the 23rd minute to retake the lead, then made a long run down the middle of the field in the 41st minute, and roped a shot into the right corner of the net to give the Bears a 4-2 lead at the break.

Gore scored his fifth goal in the 49th minute, tapping home a Mikey Wall corner kick at the far post.

The Yotes got a late goal in the 86th minute, as Gioseffi drove a free kick from just outside the box to make it 5-3.

RMC held a 17-14 edge in total shots and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks - with keeper Joachim Soderstrom making four saves in the win.

C of I returns to action tomorrow, meeting Great Falls at 1 p.m.
