CALDWELL, Idaho – A second half rally came up one goal short, as The College of Idaho dropped a physical 2-1 decision to Northwest University in Cascade Conference men's soccer action at Simplot Stadium.

After spotting the Eagles (4-2, 2-0 CCC) a two-goal lead in the first 50 minutes, the Yotes went on the attack – holding NU without a shot attempt for over 30-minutes. Nicko Moreno just missed a header in the 61st minute off a free kick and Joe Galbraith stopped a 10-yard Sydney Donaldson shot in the 71st minute.

The Yotes (1-5, 1-1) went a man down due to a red card in the 72nd minute, but kept the pressure on – breaking through in the 85th minute when Jorge Brambila played a ball down the right side to Joao Cardoso, who touched a perfect through-ball to Joe Bolin – slotting home the goal. C of I would keep the pressure until the final two minutes, when NU was able to keep the ball in their offensive zone to push the game to full time.

NU dominated play in the opening half, holding a commanding 11-2 edge in shots, breaking through in the tenth minute, when Do-Hee Kim collected a loose ball 30-yards from the goal and cracked a shot through the hands of C of I keeper, John French and into the net. The Yotes nearly got the equalizer in the 16th minute – but Bolin was offsides on a pass to the top of the six-yard box, nullifying a one-touch goal.

The Eagles added to their lead in the 50th minute, as Todd Siedenburg played a long through-ball down the left side, finding the streaking Josh Guerrero, who beat the charging French with a drive inside the right post to make it 2-0.

NU finished with a 15-10 edge in shots and a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.

C of I hits the road next weekend with matches at Warner Pacific and Concordia.
